A 2 day introductory course into local and National HPC. For the each day the first half of the day will be materials and the second half will be hands-on where you can bring your own particular case.
Registration
Course is free of charge and is covered by the UiB IT department.

Registration ends on January 18th.
Location
UiB campus, exact location depends on number of participants and will be announced not later than registration ends.
Agenda
Day 1 - New Hexagon
The first day is dedicated to information about updated Hexagon.
If there will be enough interested we can offer also a 1 hour session into SAFE https://it.uib.no/SAFE.
The following topics will be covered during day1:
- Access to the resource
- Concepts
- SLURM and HPC jobs
- Migrating from PBS to SLURM workshop
The second half of the day we are planning to have a live workshop where you can bring your old Hexagon scripts and we will help you to adjust them to new Hexagon. This will be also the right time to get help in writing job scripts and other things you are wondering about to get started using Hexagon.
Day 2 - Fram and the National HPC Infrastructure
The 2nd day is dedicated to the National HPC Infrastructure and Fram. The following topics will be covered:
- Available Infrastructure
- Getting access
- Overview over driftsorganisasjon, including Appforvaltning and Advanced User Support
- FRAM configuration and getting started
A few hours in the second half of the day will be hands-on with bring your own case, where we can help you get started using Fram and the National HPC Infrastructure.
